Oud Guide

Oud, Oud Oils

Many of us have heard of Oud, it’s not uncommon to find it as a key ingredient in perfumes from boutique and large houses. You probably have a favourite perfume, and it may even include Oud, either synthetic or the real thing.

And if on your scent journey, you’ve come across any connoisseurs of real Oud, you may have sensed a haughtiness with which they talk about the proliferation of perfumes that shout about their Oud content but have none of the bona fides to back up their claims. What is that saying about empty vessels and noise?

At some point you’ll want to try the real thing. You will start to explore and then confusion about regions and formation and distillation will make you spin and before you’ve recovered, you’ll come across the term Legends. How can a scent be legendary? what makes it legendary?

Now you’ve got both feet in the world of Oud, although they’re probably not firmly planted under you anymore. You’ll want to smell an Oud Legend, but how do you even go about getting one? How would you recognise it even if you did find it?

Let us help you to stop stumbling about. Our experts are on hand to give you a gameplan that will help you plot a course through the sometimes-confusing world of Oud and avoid checkmate.
